Wedding photographer team Sasha and Yaneck met through mutual friends during a sailing trip on Lake Michigan whilst celebrating the 4th July holiday. It seemed fitting that the couple should host their wedding reception at Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago with the city where they first met as a backdrop.

A blank canvas

"Yaneck and I chose to celebrate our reception at Bridgeport Art Center because it was an empty canvas that we were able to decorate with the exact style and feel we wanted." Being Yaneck's favourite colour, orange was the predominant colour of the wedding design. Orange ranunculus and Gerberas brightened the reception space and were paired with sprigs of purple lavender and trailing green foliage in white and orange glass vases. "Lavender is our favourite flower and Yaneck's parents had Gerberas as their wedding flower so we wanted to keep this tradition," Sasha said. The tables were lined with lace runners and candles in various shaped glass votives gave the room a warm glow. The couple's bright wedding design was nicely juxtaposed against the industrial, urban look of the venue's exposed brick walls and pipes.

The happiest of couples

"Yaneck and I both thoroughly enjoyed the wedding process. We were both involved with the planning alongside our wedding planner." Sasha and Yaneck began their wedding day by getting ready with their bridal party in a large room at the Waldorf Astoria. "It was magical to have all of the most important people in our lives together on the most special day of our lives," Sasha said.

Yaneck and Sasha share their 'first look'. "It was incredibly emotional and touching," Sasha said.

The gown

Sasha wore a mermaid style lace gown with jewelled belt, cap sleeves and cathedral length veil. Her bridesmaids wore emerald green tulle dresses and the men looked dapper in their navy suits. Yaneck's outfit was complete with the opal cufflinks gifted to him by his father. "Yaneck's grandfathers have all worn these same cufflinks on their wedding days," Sasha said. Yaneck also had on his orange socks!

Located in a historic 1911 building, Sasha and Yaneck's reception venue has been sustainably rehabbed while keeping it’s raw but elegant essence. "It is an incredibly unique space in Chicago."

Located on the top floor of the Bridgeport Art Center, upon entering Skyline Loft, guests were greeted by the large open space and panoramic views of the Chicago city skyline.

Purple heaven

Sasha and Yaneck's cake was made by local Chicago bakery Oak Mill Bakery who specialise in European-style baked goods. "What we loved most about our wedding cake was that our logo was recreated and incorporated into the design." The cake had 4 tiers each with a different iced finish.

Sweet treats & traditions

Sasha and Yaneck's wedding favours were made by Yaneck's sister from France. "She made traditional French wedding favours of almonds covered in white chocolate." Yaneck's parents also brought caramel candies with the couple's wedding logo featured on the wrappers. In addition, guests were treated to the sweet delicacies of the rustic dessert 'table' set up between two old painting ladders.
