Sydney-siders Rebecca and Jason met in high school in 2003. “Jason proposed after dinner and a stroll around The Rocks. As we sat by the waterside Jason proposed. It was the perfect moment.” Rebecca and Jason held their wedding reception at View by Sydney in Walsh Bay with all the iconic Sydney landmarks as their backdrop.
Rebecca and Jason counted their blessings on the morning of their wedding when they awoke to a sunny spring day. “As most brides-to-be do, I had been checking the weather daily leading up to the wedding." Rebecca and Jason got ready with their respective bridal parties at Pier One, overlooking the sparkling water of Sydney Harbour. “We had to be careful not to cross paths before the ceremony!”
The couple couldn’t have been happier with the morning sunshine however, what they hadn’t anticipated was the change in weather. “Just as we left the hotel for the ceremony, which was to be held on the lawns of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the weather turned.” For the duration of the ceremony, Mother Nature made her presence known with gale-force winds blowing over chairs, sending rose petals flying and whisking the oversized wedding balloons up into the air. “We also had some extremely windblown hairdos and to add to the commotion, our celebrant’s microphone dropped out just as Jason and I began to say our vows. In hindsight, this was the sweetest moment as we could only hear eachother and our words. It was so meaningful and personal. Our celebrant Alex handled everything like a pro and we wouldn’t have had our ceremony any other way.”

Jason and I really enjoyed the opportunity to have our photographs taken both with our bridal party alone together.”
The reception is where, “The real fun began!” Rebecca and Jason’s photobooth provided by Photo Corner was a big hit of the night. “Everybody loved it!” The speeches were also a highlight for the newlyweds. “The speeches had everyone in stitches. We had all our formalities done within the first hour and a half of the reception so that we could spend the rest of the evening chatting and dancing.”
Rebecca and Jason’s colour scheme was black and white with hints of rose gold and copper. “The design had an elegant feel with added touches sparkle including the matte sequin table runners.” Fairylights, tealights and pillar candles created an inviting and festive atmosphere.
The wedding flowers were a mix of seasonal blooms including ranunclus, peonies, David Austin roses, freesias, sweet peas, dusty miller and garden roses. Following the colour theme, Rebecca’s bridesmaids wore sequined black gowns and carried bouquets of blush pink, peach, white, burgundy and dark pink flowers. “The vibrant flowers really popped against their gowns.”
The colour theme was even carried through to the wedding cake. It had 4 decorated tiers. One of plain white ruffles, one of rose gold, one of black glitter and one of white with a gold stripe. The cake was complete with a bright floral decoration.
