Q&A - White Vine Photography

We caught up with Dan and Alexandra from White Vine Photography and asked them to share a little of their world and their journey of capturing weddings. Including some helpful tips on how to plan your wedding during the current situation we find ourselves in with COVID19 and self-isolating.

Why you started in weddings?

The passion for photography was always there for both Alexandra & Dan, particularly landscape and editorial photography. “Weddings weren’t on the radar until Dan took his camera to a friends wedding and captured some really special images. Capturing the memories of a couples day and knowing that they can cherish them for the rest of their lives is so rewarding.”

How are you keeping creative to pass the time?

Art, dance, time in nature, brainstorming for shoots, personal photography, puzzles, practicing Italian, cooking and meditation. We find meditation is vital in these times as fear suppresses creativity. At the moment we’re focusing on some personal photo projects that also have a written piece.

We’re also using this time to refresh our business processes, catch up on the things that we paused during the busy period, connect with our clients and fellow creatives in the industry as well as supporting local small businesses however we can.

Looking forward to?

Seeing what opportunities are available while we have more time and space. Moving towards a more simple and healthy way of being and living. Doing things with intention, working with businesses and products that are conscious of the bigger picture and more than anything, we are really looking forward to capturing love stories again as soon as we are able to!!

Reading anything right now?

Dan is reading : Ancient Wisdom Modern World by Dalai Lama. Been on that for 6 months haha.

Alexandra is reading : Blue Truth, David Deida and The Brain that Changes Itself, Norman Doidge as well as online articles, blogs, podcasts etc about art, evolution, the human body, history, anything really.

Best planning advice right now?

Take this time to get to know the people you might potentially choose to work with on your Wedding day. What is something unique that they could bring to your wedding day? What do they stand for? We have the opportunity to go a little deeper right now, so let’s make the most of it, we could learn something incredible about someone or make a connection which wasn’t possible if the process is rushed.

And… Check out EverAfter, read up and research their recommended suppliers. Support the magazines and directories in keeping their businesses alive during this time.
