Marini and Nicholas first met in 2007. "We both have jobs in property and used to work together. Nick proposed in April of 2015. Our wedding was one of the best days of our lives. It was so much fun, and having almost all of our family and best friends present was very special. Some of the highlights were, the speeches and the band was fantastic! Everybody was dancing!"

A 'modern' wedding

Marini and Nicholas had always loved visiting Queensland's Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). "We appreciate art. QAGOMA's architecture, location and views of the Brisbane River, Kurilpa Bridge and the city from the rooftop terrace made the gallery our first choice for our wedding reception. The delicious food was also a big draw card."

Expert Advice

"I was very lucky to work with so many talented, experienced and patient suppliers. In my view these individuals were experts in their fields and whilst I was very hands on, I was also happy to be guided by them."

The styling of Marini and Nicholas' wedding was minimalistic and elegant. "QAGOMA is such an amazing space that in my opinion doesn't require much additional styling. We had 2 long banquet tables that were lined with bright blooms of tulips, roses and berries in pink, plum, burgundy, reds and purples. We also had an incredible floral installation hanging above the dance floor."

Special gift

"My mother-in-law is an artist. She created a painting for Nicholas and I that included our initials. Our wedding guests signed the artwork as a sort of guest book. We will keep this painting forever and it will always remind us of our wedding day and the people who were able to share it with us."

A fluffy surprise

Marini and Nicholas's dog surprised the newlyweds after the ceremony. "Our dog Oscar was brought to the church after our ceremony. He was wearing a bow tie!"

Bride's advice

"You won’t please everyone. Focus on what's important to you and your partner and stay true to that. It's very easy to get carried away and lose sight of what is truly important. Spend time selecting any readings and writing your speech. For me, I can still feel the love and happiness from the day. You have your family and friends present and there are so many smiles. It's an amazing feeling."
